In this painting, both figures are myself; the right the older version and the one on the left the newer.
A theme that's popped up multiple times in my body of work is that I’m no longer who I was; but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
It's okay that I am comforting the past version of myself. I've not forgotten how much violence it took to be this peaceful.

It’s important for me to recognise that maybe I wasn’t a bad person – maybe I was just a teenager.
