The Drugs Don't Work was the first solo exhibition Mimi had partaken in, and the first that Ni Studios had held. The work explored the grieving process Mimi went through whilst taking antidepressants, ending on the note of self love and positive affirmations.

This exhibition was held by the student led gallery in Oct 2022. The exhibition title refers to the data-storing computer memory operating system, and how this technology now drives our economy, in both direct and indirect ways. This exhibition aimed to explore how we as a society have adapted towards technological advancements, questioning what it means to be ‘Human’, and has the definition of ‘Human’ changed over time?
Mimi exhibited her digital photography piece 'Untouched'.

"The theme for this exhibition was chosen after submissions to our last open call showed that there is a real desire from artists to show work created in response to their physical and mental experiences - a desire to to highlight something that has impacted their wellbeing and often a journey to healing.

We are delighted to be holding this exhibition in Espacio Gallery in East London.  Upstairs we will be holding our partner exhibition, fluid.

The more intimate downstairs gallery will host Trauma and Healing."

"Come as you are; bring art. Come As You Art are a small group of emerging artists who want to share their joy in the practice and consumption of art.

We want to emphasise the democracy in creativity - we welcome work from professional, semi-professional and student artists; aiming to give all artists, but especially new and emerging artists a platform to show, sell - and enjoy showing and selling - their work."

The image below is of the work Mimi exhibited, and will be updated with her time at the exhibition.

The premise of the exhibition is to explore the influence of sound and music on the visual arts.
I present my Amy Winehouse portrait, with a QR code attached to play "Tears Dry On Their Own".
“Echo’s Studio is a multi-award wining sound studio based in the prestigious Vila Mariana neighborhood in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Apart from Echo’s, the space currently houses 3 audiovisual companies (Voz À Obra, FLAP and Affinitás) and also hosts workshops. It is a creative hub that offers services for the biggest brands in the market and records a variety of Brazilian celebrities and artists. By branching out to art exhibitions, the studio aims to widen their creative practice and also become a vibrant cultural centre.
During the exhibition, the studio will be hosting and recording the Paraty International Literary Festival (FLIP). The festival that began in Paraty, in the State of Rio de Janeiro, in 2003, and which has quickly become one of the most important cultural gatherings in South America, will be held online due to Covid. Therefore, a lot of amazing people will be coming to the studio to create live content for the festival.”
